Definitely, it’s not cheap and you still have to pay for shipping, but it’s an heirloom piece, completely nontoxic (they use Belgian plant-based paints), and is built to overdo your kid’s childhood. Chances are your kids will fight for this play kitchen when they have their own kids!

Tender Leaf’s play kitchens are a huge success! Everything they launch sells out and it’s often the favorite of our readers. Recently they launched this playful and fun play kitchen in collaboration with Anthropologie.
Materials: Plywood, rubberwood, plastic, engineered hardwood, acrylic, cotton. I won’t lie that the plastic bothered me a bit and I considered not posting this play kitchen. Particularly because it’s the first time I see plastic in their toys. However, because is a reliable brand, having received the ICTI Ethical Toy Program seal of approval, meaning all of its toy products meet the European, American, Australian, and New Zealand standard safety of toys according to EN71, ASTM, and AS/NZS ISO, I gave it a pass on the plastic. Also, for every tree that becomes a toy, Tender Leaf Toys plants another tree.

The playset is super interactive. The faucet makes a water sound, which can inspire the habit of washing hands! The cooktop lights up and the fridge door makes pretend ice cubes. I really like all the storage space, but this kitchen has me on how easy it is to look at!

Hape has amazing sustainable wood non-toxic play kitchens of all sizes, but I chose this one because it’s such a versatile creative option for small spaces! The pull-out counter/cart is such a genius idea. I love it when the function meets fun. Major win-win.

When we look for open-ended toys, the idea is to expand the kid’s possibilities, right? So why give it a “closed-start” by limiting the kid’s imagination to gender stereotypes? Why do we see a sweet pink play kitchen as being for girls and a fun adventurous BBQ grill as being for boys? The title of this post is for boy play kitchen because that’s actually how thousands of people look for play kitchens. And we are so used to boys’ things and girls’ things.
Well, we believe that toys are genderless and all the kitchen sets in this post, just like the “girly” play kitchens, non-toxic wood play kitchens, and chic white play kitchens we posted so far, are for any child who loves them! The idea is to suggest an “open-start” for ourselves, no judging, no limiting, just love!
