Want to do a natural maternity photoshoot at home, but you’re not sure how? We have already written a post for moms who are looking for a more romantic and feminine style for their photos. This post is for moms who are in the mood for a more natural, minimalist, and slow life look and feel in their photos.

I’m writing this post in a delicate moment: The world is in quarantine, and for that reason, moms can’t risk going to a studio to have a photoshoot. So this is my attempt to help moms make natural, beautiful and memorable maternity photoshoot at home!

Achieving a natural mood

Natural daylight (no flashes), clean background

Grey, neutrals, white, earthy and green clothes/ decor

Natural materials (linen clothes l rattan furniture )

Profile to focus on the belly

Can you see that most moms in these photos don’t even show their faces? Cover part of your face and take a profile photo, you can focus more or less on the belly! All you need is natural light and a pretty linen or cotton outfit.

Mirror Selfie

Although this is quite simple, it can also result in beautiful natural photos if done with the right composition. Natural wood colors, a clean mirror, a boho carpet, and natural decor elements and accessories (like pillows, chairs, and hats) will set the perfect scenario for a pretty natural and easy DIY mirror maternity photo.

Next to the crib

Having a pregnant photo next to your baby’s future bedroom is iconic and special. Below, we recommend non-toxic wooden cribs and modern Scandinavian cribs.

From the top

Minimalism, neutral colors for the background and for the outfit, some baby stuff, and a soft filter from your favorite photo editing app, will get you results like the ones below. You also need someone to take the picture for you!

Frontal, Close on the belly or holding something

This idea is very similar to the first option, but now frontal and usually with one hand under your belly – or both around it – and the other holding something meaningful for you at this moment.

Natural poses for a natural mood

Just lay comfortably somewhere in your house. This will be a posed photo, of course, but you can relax, laugh and make it look more natural. Smiling and happy photos are important, but I also love the transparency of the second photo.

She was 40 weeks pregnant, already exhausted, and expressed the feeling of the moment in the photo. Recording everything you feel in this very special phase – even the bad emotions that we all know are real – brings an extra natural feeling to the mood of the photo.

Natural Photoshoot Outdoors

There is nothing more natural than the outdoors for a natural maternity photoshoot!

Maybe you don’t want to or can’t leave the house, but you may have a beautiful yard. Value this space to give some variety to the photos and add real natural elements from your garden to it.

On the bed

Wear a loose linen or lightweight dress on a clean background and bed setting and you are done.

Be You

The title says it all: be yourself. All the photos here are just standing, looking slightly to the side, with some element of nature around or with a smooth background and flowing hair. The last one is my favorite, without any filter, since the natural sunlight already makes all the photo editing work, and she is just there enjoying the moment.
