Taking your little infant baby for a stroll outdoors is a necessary, delightful, and daring experience (pretty much like everything involving an infant!). On the one hand, fresh air, sunlight, different sights, run your errands; on the other hand, bugs, rain, direct sunlight, noise, humans! When used correctly , car seat covers protect your baby from the elements and from clueless people who feel the uncontrollable need to touch/kiss/feed your baby without asking for your permission. Good infant car seat covers can be your best friend if you want to avoid any of this! And if on top of that they are also cute and whimsical, even better!

As much as some people may elect the best car seat cover, based on their viewpoint and experiences, there are some very good brands, at different price points and ways of use. So, the best one for you will depend on your personal preferences.
Basically, there are 4 types of infant car seat covers: for winter/fall, canopy, multi-use, and waterproof/rain covers. Except for the last one, which is all made of transparent plastic and usually specific for each car seat brand, we’ll run you through the cutest mom’s favorites covers!
Car Seat Cover Canopy For Baby Girl
The canopy covers have loops that attach to the car seat handle, fitting pretty much every infant car seat! They are the easiest to put on and off. Also, canopy covers are a great option if you don’t need anything multi-functional.

♥︎ It’s available in different colors, depending on the store. The floral one is from buybuyBaby.
The aden + anais cover canopies are made of 100% cotton muslin, which allows ample airflow.
Muslin is the best choice for hot weather, but you should check on the baby often and avoid too much sun exposure to prevent overheating!
If you live in a very windy area (hello Chicago) this one may be a bit annoying. Check the next option!

Multi-Use Baby Car Seat Cover
Multi-use covers can also be used as a nursing cover, swing cover, a shopping cart cover, a high chair cover, and an infinity scarf, besides covering the car seat outside of the car, of course. They are versatile and very practical, particularly if you are often on the go and you prefer some privacy when breastfeeding.

- It doesn’t sit between the baby and the car seat (elastic edges go around the seat), not being a safety hazard;

SKIP*HOP® Stroll & Go Car Seat Cover – Pink Heather
From the reviews I’ve read, the Skip Hop Stroll & Go Car Seat Cover is a great alternative if the JJ Cole doesn’t fit your seat.
It has the same basic features: it has elastic edges, does not seat under the baby, doesn’t stay between the baby and the strap, is machine washable. The differences: collar snaps closes completely, zip-off front flap and it’s more expensive.
It’s available in 4 different colors.

Infant Car Seat Covers Safety
Car seats covers are supposed to be used outside of the car, on the stroller or walks.
The American Academy of Pediatrics states that you should never drive with a baby in a car seat if there is any padding or bulking layer between the baby and the harness straps. And that includes thick coats, cute soft padding, car seat bundle covers, etc. Why?
Because according to the AAP: “if the item did not come with the car seat, it has not been crash tested and may interfere with the protection provided in a crash.“
For that reason, you should only use covers that go around the car seat and don’t have a layer under the baby!
That applies particularly for winter covers. The canopies and multi-use must be kept out of the baby’s reach when they are not being assisted by a responsible adult. Also, you should never drive your baby with the car set cover on!
The great news? There is a lot of super cute car seat covers and here are the best and cutest mom’s favorites!
